I am not a SEO expert, but based on what I have learned while opimizing some websites, I would like to give some tips for SEO beginners.
First of all, check if your website includes meta keywords (or phrases) and descriptions. These are important factors that affect the search engine results pages of your website and webpages. You may utilize different keywords/phrases to promote not only the main page, but also each of the web pages. Those keywords/phrases should represent or identify your website(pages) contents (e.g. keywords/phrases from news articles or research papers posted on webpages). Otherwise, unrelated keywords may dicrease the Quality score and search result rank of your website.
You can also utilize the title tags, which you can see on the window tap once you open your website, in order to make your website more searchable. You can see a complete form of a title tag when you place your mouse pointer on the tap. The title tag is one of the most important factors in SEO. For example, the Princeton Review is using “Test Prep:GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, SAT, ACT, and More” as its main page title tag, and this short phrase consists of several popular keywords of the industry.
Lastly, the more web pages you have in search engines like Google, the more frequently your web contents will show up. This means, by creating sub-pages that provide different kind of information for your target audience, you can increase the possibility that your potential customers will find your website or even one of those webpages (sub-pages). In addition, by promoting those webpages through social media sites such as Twitter or Digg, you can make those pages more searchable.

Hey Tae Hyun, what is the best way to submit meta keywords if I use the website builder that is available on the hosting site. The builder is basic and doesn't allow for html coding.

It depends on what kind of the website builder you are using for your website. I need to know what program you are using to give you better tips….. If you don’t mind, please give me the address of your website so that I can take a look at it and see if your website has title tags and meta tags.
ReplyDeleteIf the program you are currently using does not allow for html coding, it must have alternative functions by which you can add meta tags in your website pages.
For example, I have used a website management program (probably similar or same as the one you're using now) to optimize a website. With the program, I could not use html codes to submit meta tags, either. Instead, the program has a function that requires me to save keywords/phrases I want to use for entire webpages into a place first. Then, I can assign some of them to the webpages where those keywords/phrase are related. It was actually more convenient and efficient to me using the program than writing html codes for meta tags....
For your second question, if you want to see your website shown on the first couple of pages of search engines, you should develop effective online marketing strategies and tactics. That is, the fact that you are using perfect meta keywords (or any tags) for each of your webpages does NOT mean your website is immediately shown on the first page, or even 10th page of the Google search result. There are tons of websites out there that would have same meta keywords and represent the same industry because everyone is looking for and using popular keywords that best identify their business and industry.
Title tags, meta keywords, descriptions, titles of website/blogs contents (e.g. article or video), URLs of your website pages (or even a blog post), links in your blog posts…etc……. Those things are just some "tools" that we can utilize to make our websites a little more searchable…. You should keep in mind that there are tons of things that can affect the search engine page rankings.
In my opinion, the most important thing in SEO is that you need to produce valuable contents through not just your website, but also other social media sites in order to increase your website rank. The best way,... I would recommend you build and produce valuable contents that people would be interested by using your website and blog and promote them through social media sites such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. SEO is simple, but requires your creativeness and lots of tedious work at the same time.
